What does it cost to join DITA Users?
- Until we launch officially in September, membership is free.
- Members who join during the free beta period will be asked to join again. Some members have entered credit cards, but they will not be charged without being asked again.
- After that, annual individual membership will be $100USD.
- Active members of STC, CM Pros, and OASIS can join for $50/year.
- Organization and vendor memberships are priced on a case-by-case basis.
Who are DITA Users?
What are the member benefits?
- The website provides members with individual workspaces for their DITA documents.
- Web-based editing and processing eliminates all the hassle of a DITA OT installation.
- Members can share privileges in their workspaces with other members to collaborate or to facilitate mentoring.
- Workspaces include sample files that can be customized. Our server-side tools can then generate HTML and PDF outputs from these files.
- The member directory helps you locate other users with similar interests and problems.
- There are discounts on conferences, tools, and publications.
Who are the DITA Mentors?
- Mentors are expert consultants who will help you to develop your DITA skills.
- They offer help in various ways - online chat, telephone, and screen sharing. Some offer workshops and some can travel to your site for consultations.
- Mentors can help you install the DITA Open Toolkit on your servers, workstations, and laptops. They can often do this over the Internet for a set fee.
- Some can provide technical support for the top DITA XML Editors and CMS, or help you to choose the best DITA toolset.
Why are vendors involved?
- The website will offer working demos of vendor tools that can help our members get started with DITA.
- We want our members to be able to test all the best tools for single-source, topic-based, structured content creation.
- Vendors will offer member discounts on their tools that in many cases will more than offset the price of DITA Users membership.
